This course is designed to allow
students to study music in an integrated way,as a practical,
intellectual and creative subject with the specialist pathways in
performing and composing.
AS
- Unit One: Performance
- You will present a log of solo and ensemble
performances from the year and record a solo performance for assessment.

- Unit Two: Developing
Musical ideas
- You are asked to complete a portfolio of
compositional techniques exercises and a composition.

- Unit Three:
Listening and understanding
- This will cover your responses to music you
hear and analytical and historical skills and knowledge.
Two areas of study need to be covered during
the AS course from: TwentiethCentury Art Music, World Music, Music for
Film and Television or popular Music and Jazz.

Unit Four: Specialist
Options
- You can choose either
a composition portfolio or a 20 minute solo recital.

Performing and Composing
- You will submit a log of performances from
during the course and undertake a composition techniques paper

- Unit Six:
Analysing Music
- You will continue with one of the areas of
study from AS, and select an additional area of study.

- You will also sit a general
listening paper.
