Catalan is a romance language which is spoken in North Eastern Spain, Andorra, parts of southern France and on parts of the island of Sardinia. It has some similarities with French and Castilian Spanish but it is a distinct language in its own right.   It is the language you will hear if you go on holiday to Barcelona.
