PE AT KS4

During key stage 4, pupils will tackle more complex and demanding activities, applying their knowledge, skills and techniques they have learnt in KS3. They decide whether to get involved in physical activity that is mainly focused on competition and performance or on promoting health and wellbeing, or on developing personal fitness. They also decide on which roles suit them best including performer, coach, choreographer, leader and official.

BTEC IN SPORT

The Physical Education Department run the course. It is co-ordinated & managed by Mr J Hayden (course leader).

The course was introduced to capitalise on a very highly motivated group of students within the GCSE Physical Education. It should provide a sound & sufficiently broad educational base to enable each student to progress either to an A level/National Certificate or to employment in the Sports & Leisure Industry. The course can be studied alongside, or as an alternative, to GCSE P.E. It is intended that the Sports course will use each student’s skills & enthusiasm in sport to develop an awareness & interest in science technology, which underpins much of the sporting industry and advancements.
