PE AT KS4
During key stage 4, pupils will tackle more complex and demanding
activities, applying their knowledge, skills and techniques they have
learnt in KS3. They decide whether to get involved in physical activity
that is mainly focused on competition and performance or on promoting
health and wellbeing, or on developing personal fitness. They also
decide on which roles suit them best including performer, coach,
choreographer, leader and official.

GCSE PE
The GCSE PE course follows the Edexcel syllabus and specifications.
Pupils will receive one double lesson and one single lesson per week
in addition to their core PE lesson. Pupils will be assessed in a
minimum of 4 activities, which cover the national curriculum
requirements at KS4. Activities are tailored to the syllabus and
what the school can offer. Examples of the activities covered for
GCSE PE:
Football
Basketball
Softball
Volleyball
Athletics
Exercise activities
Trampolining

EDEXCEL GCSE
SPECIFICATION
BTEC IN SPORT
The Physical Education Department run the course. It is co-ordinated
& managed by Mr J Hayden (course leader).
The course was introduced to capitalise on a very highly motivated
group of students within the GCSE Physical Education. It should
provide a sound & sufficiently broad educational base to enable each
student to progress either to an A level/National Certificate or to
employment in the Sports & Leisure Industry. The course can be
studied alongside, or as an alternative, to GCSE P.E. It is intended
that the Sports course will use each student’s skills & enthusiasm
in sport to develop an awareness & interest in science technology,
which underpins much of the sporting industry and advancements.
