KS4 Maths

Course description.

 

1. Develop their mathematical knowledge and confidence in reading, writing and talking about the subject.

2. Apply mathematics to everyday situations and solve ‘real’ problems.

3. Learn to reason logically, to classify, to generalise and to prove.

4. Appreciate pattern and relationships and to produce creative work arising from mathematical ideas.

5. Conduct individual and co-operative enquiry and experiment in work of a practical and investigative nature.

6. Acquire a foundation appropriate to their ability in order to further their study of mathematics and other disciplines.

 

Assessment The course is assessed on two pieces of course work completed during the year one investigation (10%) and one data handling project (10%) and two written papers one non-calculator and one calculator, at the end of the year (80% of final assessment).
