There are eight different levels and exceptional performance defined within each Attainment Target, reflecting differences in ability and progress.

In year 7 pupils start with introductory basic skills course to equip them for Maths used across the curriculum.

They then follow the Task Maths text book which is a practical task based course with a focus on concept building and extension work.

In years 8 and 9 pupils are broadly grouped in sets by ability in mathematics.
