| Mathematics in the National
Curriculum is covered under four broad headings called Attainment
Targets. These are:
AT1 (Ma1) Using and applying
mathematics
AT2 (Ma2) Number and Algebra
AT3 (Ma3) Shape, Space and Measures
AT4 (Ma4) Handling data
There are eight different levels and exceptional performance
defined within each Attainment Target, reflecting differences in
ability and progress.
In year 7 pupils start with
introductory basic skills course to equip them for Maths used across
the curriculum.
They then follow the Task Maths text
book which is a practical task based course with a focus on concept
building and extension work.
In years 8 and 9 pupils are broadly
grouped in sets by ability in mathematics. |
