This course is divided into the
following units of study:
Outline Study : International
relations (1919-1989) Including the causes of the second world war,
the cold war, the collapse of USSR
Depth Study : USA 1919-1941
Depth Study : Britain 1906 -
1918
Coursework: Race Relations in
USA, Britain during the Blitz
The course is intended to equip
students to reach four main objectives:
1. to gain a sound historical
knowledge and understanding of the units studied;
2. to handle key concepts such as
causation and consequence, how and why changes occur at different
speeds, sometimes in similar ways, more often in different ways;
3. to use historical evidence, judge
its value and reliability, and form conclusions based upon it;
4. to look at events and problems of
the past from the points of view of the people at the time, and
working through the evidence they have left behind.
