Speech, Drama & Theatre Studies at Elliott School
The Elliott School
has a fine history of excellence in Drama. It boasts its own Theatre
as well as an open-air outdoor stage and has an outstanding track
record with school productions, having a strongly integrated team of
innovative Music and Drama teachers among its staff.
The teaching of Drama
itself has strong cross-curricular links with the English
department. There is a high focus on developing basic Speaking &
Listening skills in Key Stage 3 to serve the needs of ordinary
students so that they can meet the core SATs and GCSE English
requirements. Drama also demands students improve their co-operation
and social skills so that they can work effectively within a team
and improve their confidence in speaking to an audience, delivering
effective presentations.
For students that
specialise in Drama at GCSE and A-Level, Elliott School places a
high priority on visiting theatres and seeing a wide range of
productions to enhance understanding of theatre and increase the
scope of students’ creative imagination. Drama specialists are
encouraged to become members of the Lyric Young Company and
to broaden their practical experience by participating in as much
extra-curricular work as possible.

Dramatic Arts (RADA), the most famous and illustrious Drama

in voice and script work, stage fighting and film production.
