The Course

This course encourages students to make a personal, visual response to the world they live in, through the acquisition of skills in a variety of areas eg: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture.

From first hand experience the student is expected to research, analyse and investigate a given theme; to keep a personal sketch book and to place their work in an historical, critical or environmental context.

Assessment

This two year course is assessed on two units of coursework and an examination project with accompanying preparatory studies.

Each student must have evidence of visual research, investigation, documentation and realisation of their ideas.

Each unit will be worth 30% adding up to 60% for coursework. The coursework will be worth 60% of the total mark, and the Examination 40%. However, a grade cannot be given if either part is missing.

Unit One  =   30%
Unit Two  =   30%
Exam Unit =   40%
