What is an "Extended School"?

By 2010 the Government want more things happening in schools over and above the traditional school day. They want to see:

·         All schools and children and families to be able to access a core of extended services developed in partnership with other organisations and the local community.

·         All secondary schools open from 8am to 6pm all year round, offering a range of activities for young people.

We are working together within a cluster of local schools to push forward this Government initiative. Our new school building will also help us to drive the Extended Schools programme forward with improved facilities for community use. You can find more information on the Extended Schools Programme on the local authority website at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/Home/Childrenandyoungpeople/ChangeChildren/extended.htm

"We live and learn"

In the 21st century learning does not have to stop when you leave school or college.

`Lifelong Learning` is about continuing to learn in many different ways be it reading a book, exploring the internet,
mastering a new skill, training for a job, taking a course for fun or studying for a qualification.

Learning throughout your life can help you live a longer, healthier and happier life.

What do I get from learning? Learning has the power to transform us.

We can become successful at home, at work, at large in our local community. Learning can help us to solve problems
and change our attitudes. It can be fun and it can be challenging.
