Two of
our teachers, Mr Peter Jones and Miss Sinead Gooden,
have just returned from visiting the school in Kenya,
and teachers from Kenya have also just visited Elliott
School. The visit was to establish a partnership
agreement, exchange and share ideas on education,
curriculum and teaching and learning.
The two
schools are working together on a shared curriculum
project on development and environmental issues with a
focus on the global dimension and sustainable
development. They are also working on a
development plan to raise the achievement of female
learners through peer mentoring.

| The
Elliott XL Groups’ Tea Party was a big success, with over 20
elderly people from a local nursing home attending. It was
supported by a grant from the Prince’s Trust and held in the
library. The visitors enjoyed conversation along with a cup
of tea, sandwiches and cakes. We had a raffle with Easter
eggs and flowers for prizes and there were several very
happy winners. The tables were beautifully decorated with
flower arrangements and the event was accompanied with light
entertainment from a professional string quartet. We have
established links with the events organisers at Ashmead Care
Centre and are planning to hold further events. |

Trinity College Cambridge. In addition, Pablo Strong won a
Choral Scholarship to St. John’s College, Cambridge.
These students join the prestigious list
of forty three students in the last thirteen years who have gone to
Oxford and Cambridge universities, a fine accolade to the traditions
of excellence at Putney’s local comprehensive, Elliott School.
